Frequently Asked Questions

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. You would be responsible for paying the full fee at the time of each session. However, I can provide you with a detailed bill—called a superbill—that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement, if your plan includes out-of-network benefits. Many clients are able to recover a portion of the cost this way. My current fees are $260 for individual sessions, $320 for couple/family sessions and $90 per group session.

I work with individuals and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, and a desire for greater self-understanding. I use an integrative approach grounded in psychodynamic and interpersonal therapies. This means I tailor the work to each person, exploring both present-day struggles and deeper patterns rooted in past experiences. In addition to individual and couples therapy, I also lead interpersonal process groups that offer a powerful space to reflect on how you relate to others in the here-and-now.

It’s completely natural to feel a bit nervous about starting treatment. The first session is a collaborative conversation where we begin getting to know each other. You might share what led you to reach out, reflect on past therapy experiences, or simply talk about how you’re feeling in the moment. There’s no right or wrong way to begin. We’ll also talk about what you’re hoping therapy might help with, and you’re welcome to ask any questions. The goal is to see if it feels like a good fit, and to start building a space that feels safe and supportive.

Yes, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions. My office is located in downtown Chicago, and I also offer virtual sessions to individuals and couples anywhere in Illinois. Online sessions are held via a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. We can decide together what format works best for you based on your needs and preferences.

Unfortunately, most psychiatry practices focus primarily on medication management with brief follow-up visits. My approach is more comprehensive. The foundation and mainstay of treatment are in-depth individual therapy, couples therapy, and interpersonal process groups. Optional, thoughtful medication support is available when needed. This allows us to work together more holistically—addressing symptoms while also exploring the emotional and relational patterns that underlie them. I take time to build a strong therapeutic relationship, and I collaborate closely with you to find the kind of support that feels most meaningful and effective.

I encourage you to start with a free initial video call where we can briefly discuss your reasons for reaching out. If it feels like a good fit, we can then set up your first full appointment. This helps us ensure that your needs and expectations align before committing to treatment.
